The creative process is so different now that I’m sober. Not that I was necessarily creative in addiction, but I had way lower inhibitions. I felt more bold in unwaveringly spitting out what I wanted to say and be done with it.
That might not be a great thing for interpersonal relationships, but it smooths the brain to cast out self-doubt and judgement – two key things I find myself running into when writing.
That’s kinda why I’m posting this. Smoothing the brain. In rehab, they dedicated an entire session to the concept of Wabi-Sabi. The main point that I took away was that imperfections are inevitable, permanent, and beautiful. Rather than shamed, imperfections should be appreciated more.
So I need to chill out, write and create imperfections.
